The DeKalb County Coach Pitch Tigers will go into Sunday’s round of the TYBA State Championship as a number 2 seed after splitting their seeding contests Saturday at the TYBA State Championships in Murfreesboro.

iDeKalb began the day’s contests hot by pounding Countryboy Fencing and Construction, 28-5.  Every Tiger bat seemed to come alive in the contest, as DC hit multiple home runs and scored seemingly at will in the contest.  Devin Fish unveiled his superman cape during the game, stopping multiple CFC would be hits, and crushing 2 home runs in the contest.

Fish wasn’t the only DC offensive threat in the contest as every Tiger player contributed in the impressive show of offense.

The Black and White Defense was stifling throughout the contest as the Tigers kept CFC off hbalance throughout the game, refusing to allow them to build any kind of momentum.

The extremely hot weather combined with the long wait between contests proved to be too much for the Tigers, unfortunately though, as the Tigers couldn’t overcome a slow start in their second game of the day, falling to the Eagleville Skeeters in their final contest of the evening.

As painful as any loss is, the Tigers showed their resilience through the contest, as they were able to battle back from a big deficit to make the game a contest, late.

After the dust had settled, the Tigers find themselves in good position for Sunday’s elimination round of the tournament, as they will enter the day as a number 2 seed and will face number 3 seeded Unionville in their first game of the day.  A win there would put DC in the semifinal round and would face the winner of number 1 seed, Rocky Top and number 4 seed Countryboy Fencing and Construction.

The Tigers’ first game will be played at 11:00 Sunday at Barfield Crescent Park in Murfreesboro.
