The DeKalb County Junior Pro Football teams will be hosting the Middle Tennessee Youth Football Conference Official Weigh-in Day and Jamboree this Saturday at DCHS. This marks the final warm-up opportunity for all seven league teams and guest, Pickett County. This year the conference expanded to seven teams with the addition of Monterey, Baxter and Crossville. Smith County, Fentress County, Overton County and DeKalb remained in the conference from 2013 and with the additions, each team will face each other only once before the two-weekend tournament at the conclusion of the season.

DeKalb County Jr. Pro League President, John Kilgore
DeKalb County Chairman, John Kilgore and staff have worked hard on organizing and preparing for the event. The money raised will benefit all three DeKalb County Jr. Pro teams, and along with gate fees the league collects from its home games, makes up the lion share of all monies raised to keep the league functioning.
The day will also serve as the official registration and weigh-in day for the teams. All players must be present and have turned in all necessary paperwork by weigh-in to be eligible to participate in any game during the season. Players in each division, Pewee, Junior and Senior, must weigh-in to ensure they are at or below a maximum weight to participate in any “skilled” position on the team. The conference has defined these “skilled” positions on offense to be quarterback, running back, tight end and receiver, and on defense to be linebacker, ends, cornerbacks and safeties. The weight limits for 2014 are: Peewee 86 pounds, Junior 106 pounds and Senior 126 pounds. Any player determined to be over the weight limit will be designated a “striper” for the entire season and will only be allowed to participate in a “lineman” position for both offense and defense. All stripers will be identified on the field with a 1 to 2 inch contrasting stripe on their helmet that will be placed there after weigh-in.
DeKalb’s schedule for Saturday will be: Peewee 11:00, Junior 11:30 and Senior 12:00, with players reporting earlier for weigh-in and warm ups.
Admission will be $4 for adults with children under six being admitted free.
