The DeKalb County Junior Pro teams traveled to Baxter Saturday for the first organized competition in the 2014 season. Competing in a Jamboree at Upperman Stadium, the Tigers took it to Cookeville, getting an “unofficial” win, 20-0.
Both sides of the ball looked good for DeKalb, as the Black and Gold defense stymied Cookeville all day long, while the Tiger offense was both potent and efficient.
Perhaps most surprising was the amount of contribution the younger Juniors made. With very few returning players for the squad, the underclassmen were called on early and often, and played exceptionally well in their first game in the Junior division.
DeKalb will host its own Jamboree this Saturday on the DCHS campus.
