While it wasn’t the Junior Tigers prettiest game ever, a win is still a win, and the Tigers got their third one of the season Saturday

Kaleb Spears and the DC Defense shut down the Monterey Wildcats Saturday.
against the Monterey Wildcats at Cornerstone.
The Tigers were uncharacteristically sloppy Saturday, though most likely due in large part to the wet conditions throughout most of the game. DeKalb turned the ball over 3 times in the contest but each time the Black and Gold Defense was able to rally, holding Monterey to only 39 yards of total offense in the game, while forcing a fumble of its own.
While the Tiger Offense did have problems holding onto the ball, they moved the ball up and down the field seemingly at will for much of the game. Putting up a combined 195 yards of total offense, DeKalb did manage two Konner Young rushing touchdowns in the game, which proved to be more than enough to defeat Monterey, 15-0.

Konner Young had 2 touchdowns for the Tigers in their win at Monterey Saturday.
The Tigers’ first score in the contest came in the second quarter when Tiger quarterback, Briz Trapp put together an impressive 9 play 57 yard drive culminating in a 7 yard Young touchdown rumble. Young would convert the PAT and the Tigers took the lead 7-0.
The Tigers’ other score wouldn’t come until the fourth quarter when Young would run in from 6 yards out. Trapp would find wide-out Conner Close for the two point conversion and the Tigers expanded their lead to 15-0.
For the game, Konner Young rushed 10 times for 49 yards and two touchdowns. Mason Winter added 38 yards, Stetson Agee added 17 yards Conner Close had 16 yards, Seth Cantrell had 15 yards, and Ryan Thompson had 9 yards.
Briz Trapp looked good at quarterback, completing 3 of 4 passes for 36 yards. Conner Close caught 2 balls for 26 yards and Stetson Agee had 1 catch for 10 yards.
The Tiger Defense combined for 22 tackles and a sack and forced a fumble in the game.
DeKalb will take on Fentress County at home this Saturday, to open the home portion of their 2015 schedule.
