Juniors Continue Dominance, Beat Crossville, 27-6

The DeKalb County Junior Pro Junior Team continued its winning ways at home Saturday when the Crossville Junior Jets came calling.  Both sides of the ball for DeKalb played impressively, offensively scoring almost at will and stifling any chance of a Crossville threat, defensively.

Collectively, DC ran for 276 yards as ten different Tigers contributing on the ground for DeKalb, with Conner Close, Kolter Kilgore and Marquez Chalfant each scoring touchdowns.

Crossville could manage only 56 yards against the Black and Gold during the contest and DC would allow only 4 Jet first downs throughout, as the Tiger defense swarmed to the ball all evening.

Tiger quarterback, Kolter Kilgore led DeKalb 57 yards downfield on the Tigers’ opening drive, and dove in for a touchdown from 4 yards out to give DC the early lead.  Ryan Thompson would add the conversion and midway through the first quarter, DeKalb led 7-0.

The Tiger defense would force a three-and-out and six plays later Konner Young would JTJoel Raderdive in from six yards out to increase the Tiger.  This time Kilgore would add the conversion attempt and with 7:19 left in the second, DeKalb led 14-0.

Crossville would fail on its first of 3 fourth down attempts, setting up Marquez Chalfant’s speedy 46 yard touchdown basically as time expired in the half.  The conversion attempt would fail, but the damage was done as the Black and Gold took the lead, 20-0 and all of the momentum into the break.

setting DeKalb up at the Jet 34.  DeKalb was unable to take advantage of the gift, but got the ball back and on their next possession big Conner Close broke off a 58 yard touchdown rumble all the way to the endzone.  Kilgore’s conversion attempt was good and DeKalb ended all Jet hopes, going ahead, 27-0.

DeKalb would allow a Jet touchdown late, but it wouldn’t matter as DeKalb thoroughly dominated, going on to win 27-6.

For the game Marquez Chalfant had 79 yards and a touchdown followed by Conner Close with 58 yards and a touchdown.  Silas Cross had 40 yards on 8 attempts, Ryan Thompson had 36 yards ad Seth Cantrell added 17.  Briz Trapp added 12 yards, Konner Young had 11 and Kolter Kilgore had 9 yards and a touchdown.  Mason Winter, Andrew Vickers and Joel Rader added 7,6 and 2 yards respectively.

Defensively, Konner Young had a sack and Stetson Agee had an interception for the Tigers.  Seven Tigers, Mason Winter, Andrew Vickers, Conner Close, Briz Trapp, Joel Rader, Issac Newport and Diego Cornado each had two tackles.  Ryan Thompson, Tyler Estes, Konner Young and Ari White each added one for the Tigers.

DeKalb will travel to Monterey next week to take on the Wildcats.
