given the Tigers their first loss of the year, September 14th when DeKalb traveled to Jamestown.  During that game, the Tigers had a tough day blocking for their stable of running backs and the Tigers gained only 49 yards in the contest, going on to eventually fall, 6-0.

That would not be a problem in the rematch.

Backed by a 16 touch, 55 yard running performance from Ryan Thompson, DeKalb ran up and down on the Bulldogs all game long and held Fentress County scoreless in the second The Black and Gold offense racked up a total of 118 yards in the contest with touchdown runs from Briz Trapp and Marquez Chalfant.  DeKalb’s defense was stingy forcing two turnovers that the offense quickly took advantage of.

DeKalb looked impressive from the beginning, driving 70 yards on 9 plays before Chalfant raced in on a 30 yard scamper to put the Tigers up 6-0.

The DC defense forced a turnover on Fentress County’s 30 yard line in the Bulldogs’ first possession to set the Tigers up in position to score again.   5 plays later, DeKalb did just that on a 2 yard dive by quarterback Briz Trapp to put the Tigers up 12-0.

In the end, that would be enough.

Fentress County did manage to score on its next possession but could never manage another scoring threat throughout the contest.

For the game, Ryan Thompson ran for 55 yards, Marquez Chalfant had 33 yards and a touchdown, Mason Winter ran for 20 yards, Conner Close added 11 yards, Konner Young had one carry for 4 yards and Briz Trapp had a rushing touchdown.

With the win, DeKalb will face the Smith County Owls next Saturday for the championship at 3:30 at the DCHS football field.
