torrential rainstorm Smithville experienced Saturday afternoon, causing many fans to, well, get soaked.
Any inconvenience the Peewee Tiger fans suffered Saturday was rewarded ten-fold with the game they witnessed Sunday.
After playing to a draw in regulation, the Peewee Tigers pulled out, literally, a last second win in overtime to defeat the Overton County Outlaws, 6-0.
It was a defensive struggle, obviously, throughout regulation, however, both teams were plagued by penalties that hampered any rhythm either offense tried to manufacture. DeKalb was penalized three times for 23 yards, with Overton being dinged eight times for 66 yards, many of which ended drives for the Outlaws.

DeKalb did give a glimpse of what would occur in the extra period, however, on the last play of regulation when Marquez Chalfant ran around end and dashed for the endzone before stepping out of bounds at the Outlaw 12 yard line.
That’s where the real drama would begin.
In an overtime period where both sides got the ball at the opponent’s 10 yard line with four downs to score, DeKalb elected to defend, putting them in a position to know exactly what they would need to do to potentially win the game.

The Peewee Cheerleaders kept the fans fired up all game long Sunday.
Defend they did.
After the Outlaws had driven to the DeKalb 3 yard line, Briz Trapp stopped the Outlaw drive at the goal line, when he planted a touchdown preventing tackle on Overton County’s running back to stop their drive.
DeKalb would squander its first three offensive plays of the extra period, losing seven yards in three tries. However, on fourth down, Trapp handed the ball to Chalfant who, in a play identical to his last play of regulation, again ran around end toward the endzone.

This time, he would not step out of bounds.
Dashing 17 yards to the goal line, Chalfant put the ball in the end zone for DeKalb, giving the Tigers the victory, 6-0.
For the game, DeKalb ran the ball 24 times for 60 yards. Marquez Chalfant had 39 yards, Ryan Thompson ran eight times for 14 yards, Conner close had 7 yards rushing, Konner Young ran twice for 4 yards and Mason Winter added a yard.
With the win, DeKalb improves to 2-0 on the season and will face Smith County next week in Smithville. Game time is 3:00.
