The DeKalb County Peewee Football team traveled to Tennessee Tech Saturday to officially weigh in and kickoff their own Jamboree for the 2013 season. The Tigers weighed heavily on the scoreboard as well, as the White and Gold took down the Cannon County Lions, 14-6.

Marquez Chalfant had another big game for the Tigers Saturday in DeKalb County’s 14-6 win over Cannon County.
DeKalb was able to impose its will both offensively and defensively for most of the game. The Tigers began the game strong defensively by turning Cannon County over on downs. DC would immediately make the Lions pay for their offensive ineptitude by rumbling 67 yards down the field for a touchdown on three consecutive runs by Konner Young, Briz Trapp and Ryan Thompson. Young would tack on the extra point and DeKalb led 7-0.
Cannon County looked like it might have life when it returned on offense, gaining a chunk of

Quarterback, Briz Trapp and the DeKalb County offensive line
yardage on first down. However, the mighty DC defense would rise causing the Lions to again turn the ball over on downs.
It would only take Marquez Chalfant one play to trouble the Lions yet again.
Streaking 45 yards downfield, Chalfant would find the endzone for the Tigers. Quarterback, Briz Trapp would convert the point after

and, just like that, DeKalb led 14-0.
Cannon again showed signs of life as they rumbled 65 yards on their next play to put six on the scoreboard for themselves. Wesley Kent would stop their conversion attempt, however, but
the Lions cut into the DeKalb County lead, 14-6.
That score would hold for the Tigers, giving the Peewee Tigers their second Jamboree win in three weeks.
DeKalb will open the regular season this week at home against the Fentress County Bulldogs. Game time is 4:00pm.
