It was tough sledding all day long for the Peewee Tigers Saturday when DeKalb traveled to Baxter to take on conference rival Monterey Wildcats at Cornerstone.  The stingy Wildcat Defense, paired with the inclement weather helped prevent the Tigers from finding any type of rhythm all game long.  Shocked by a 60 yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage by Monterey, the Tigers seemed never able to recover.

Monterey was able to put a touchdown on the scoreboard, each quarter, in the first three quarters of the game before DeKalb’s defense bowed up and held the Wildcats scoreless in the fourth.

Nick Murphy led the way offensively for the Tigers, running 8 times for 21 yards.

Ethan Spears followed closely behind, running 7 times for 19 yards.  Quarterback, Jon Hendrix carried the ball for 8 yards, Cesar Gaspar had 7 yards and Blaine Atnip added 6.

Defensively, Blaine Atnip, Ethan Spears, Nick Murphy, Gracin South, Cole McMillen and Ethan White each had tackles in the game.

With the loss, DeKalb falls to 0-3 for the season but will begin a three week home stand this Saturday when the Fentress County Bulldogs travel to Smithville.  Game time is 4:00.
