The Peewee Tigers ended the regular season at home yesterday, falling to the Smith County Owls on Homecoming for the Tigers. For the most part, DeKalb’s defense discharged itself well during the game, but two Owl big plays proved to be the death knell for the Tigers. The Black and Gold offense struggled throughout the game, as the stifling Owl defense allowed only 52 Tiger yards and 2 first downs in the contest.

Penalties and fumbles didn’t help the Tigers, as the offense managed to lose the ball three times in the contest and that, combined with three costly penalties gave the Owls a huge time of possession advantage.
The loss, ends the Tigers’ regular season at .500 (3-3), in a three way tie with Overton Co and Monterey for third place. This tie puts the Tigers in a precarious playoff situation as neither of the three teams have a clear tiebreaker. DeKalb lost to Overton County on Sept 6th, DeKalb defeated Monterey on the 7th and Monterey edged Overton County on September 20th. With only the top 4 teams advancing to the playoffs, MTYFC rules dictate a coin toss today at 2:00 will decide the fate of the three notched teams.
