The DC Pewees took another big step forward Saturday, knocking off rival Smith County in a defensive struggle, 6-0.  The team’s second win of the season was a total team effort as DeKalb would never allow Smith County to get into any semblance of an offensive groove throughout the game.

The Tigers got the only score of the game late in the third quarter when running back Nick Murphy broke free on a 43 yard scoring strike to give the Tigers the lead 6-0.

Murphy led the team with 52 yards rushing and a touchdown, but Jon Hendrix added 12 yards on the ground and Jacob Stewart added 5.

Defensively, Murphy again led the way with 6 tackles.  Gracin South and Cole McMillen each added 2 and Blaine Atnip and Jon Hendrix added 1.

With the win, DeKalb improves to 2-4 on the season and will travel to Cookeville next Saturday to play Cookeville.
