The DeKalb Middle School Saints traveled to Carthage Thursday night to take on the Smith County Middle School Owls in a makeup game from August. Unfortunately, the game didn’t turn out as the Saints hoped, as DeKalb lost 34-0.

For the second consecutive game, the Saints hung in against their opponent in the first half, only to see the game get away from them in the second. DeKalb came out fired up, forcing a fumble on the Owl’s first possession, but could do nothing with it and was forced to punt the ball back to Smith Co. The Saints would see Smith Co. get a touchdown on three of their next four possessions, effectively putting the game away.
DeKalb again had offensive troubles, managing only 27 total yards of offense for the game. The White and Blue also had trouble tackling throughout, allowing the Owls to manage 297 yards of offense and 13 first downs in the contest.
With the loss, DeKalb is still looking for its first win, falling to a record of 0-4.
DeKalb will travel to Woodbury next Thursday to take on Cannon County. Game time is 6:30.
