To say it was a defensive struggle might be an understatement.

Saturday’s game between the Crossville Senior Jets and the Senior Tigers lacked any resemblance of offense during regulation but both teams came alive in the extra periods, with the Black and Gold eventually falling, 13-12.

Alan Munoz had 57 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Tigers Saturday.

It would take four quarters of play and two overtime periods before either team could crack the other’s vaunted defensive effort.  However, things looked bright for the Tigers in the second overtime as Alan Munoz broke free from seven yards out to put the Tigers on the board.  The conversion attempt would fail but there was a feeling of optimism in the air going into Crossville’s turn at sudden death overtime.

That optimism faded, somewhat, as Crossville was able to answer the Tiger touchdown with one of its own.  The DC defense stood tall on the conversion attempt, keeping the Jets out of the endzone, however Crossville was again able to march into the endzone, this time converting on its attempt, to give the Jets a 13-6 advantage.

After a huge 9 yard run by Issac Knowles, Munoz carried the ball into the endzone, drawing within one point to force a fourth OT.

It wasn’t to be, unfortunately, as the Tigers couldn’t convert, leaving the field one point short.

Five different Tigers contributed offensively for DeKalb, led by Alan Munoz who racked up 57 yards and two touchdowns in the contest.  Issac Knowles had 12 yards and Axel Aldino had 7 yards, while Malachi Hall had 6 yards and Cody Caldwell had 4.
