Senior Tigers Win in Consolation, 20-0

The Senior Tigers took home 3rd place for 2014 in the MTYFC playoffs Saturday, defeating the Fentress County Bulldogs, 20-0 in the third place game.

The game was never in question as DeKalb dominated on both sides of the ball, racking up 228 yards of total offense while holding the Bulldogs to just 78.  Tiger running backs, Desmond Nokes and Axel Aldino accounted for 158 yards 2 touchdowns by themselves on a day when the Tigers were able to move the ball seemingly at will.

The Tiger Defense, led by Malachi Hall, was as stout as usual, forcing 2 turnovers and allowing only 7 first downs in the contest.  12 different Tigers had tackles in the game and never allowed FC to gain any kind of offensive momentum anytime throughout the game.

After forcing a Fentress County punt on the first series of the game, DeKalb took their first offensive series 77 yards downfield in 12 plays before Malachi Hall took the ball in from 9 yards out to put the Tigers on the board first.  Alan Munoz would convert the conversion and with 1 quarter in the books, the Tigers led 7-0.

Both teams would trade punts for the rest of the first half but the Tigers would take their opening possession of the second half 53 yards in just 4 plays when Desmond Nokes would break off a 34 touchdown run to extend the Tigers lead to 13-0 with 6:29 left in the third quarter.

Again the Tigers would force a Bulldog punt and DC would put together an 8 play 67 yard drive, before Axel Aldino broke off a 31 yard run to cross the end zone for another Tiger touchdown.  Munoz would convert the conversion and with just 7:19 left in the game, DeKalb took a commanding 20-0 lead.

That would be more than enough for the Tigers as the Black and Gold would force two Fentress County turnovers, giving the victory to DeKalb and ending their season at 4-4.

For the game, Desmond Nokes carried the ball 9 times for 85 yards and a touchdown, Axel Aldino carried 8 times for 78 yards.  Alan Munoz ran 10 times for 38 yards, Malachi Hall carried twice for 20 yards and a touchdown and Issac Knowles had an 11 yard carry.

Defensively, Malachi Hall had 6 tackles, Josh May had 5 and Axel Aldino had 3.  Desmond Nokes had 2 tackles and 8 Tigers, Alan Munoz, Brady Hale, Issac Knowles, Conner Crabtree, Bryden Tubbs, Rylan Rhea, Marshall Nichols and Cody Colwell each contributed with 1.
