Tigers Slay the Dragons on Senior Night

The Tigers’ offense put on an aerial assault Friday night, putting up 388 yards and 4 touchdowns in a shut out win against the York Institute Dragons.

It was a high octane performance from the start, racking up 45 yards on the opening drive. After failing to convert on fourth down, it was up to the defense to carry the momentum. And boy did they. The D held York to -4 yards on their first drive after a quarterback sack on third and long. After that, quarterback Jennings and #8 Aaron Patterson found their mojo. Patterson made a spectacular juggling catch to extend the drive to gain 16 yards, followed by a 6 yard reception for pay dirt.

The next few possessions were a little sloppy as the Dragons fumbled the kickoff, then Jennings threw an interception, and then York lost another fumble. A few drives later, DeKalb arrived at the red zone once more, capitalizing this time with a 10 yard pass and catch from Jennings to #25 Dustin Warner. It was 14-0 at the half.

The second half was the same song, different verse. Jennings hooked up with Patterson once more for 6 points to cap off their opening drive of the half. The defense held strong and put plenty of pressure on the Dragons qb all night. The final nail in the coffin came early in the fourth with #20 Divonta Milan finding the end zone on a fourth and long from York’s 40. To cap everything off, #13 Matthew Poss nailed field goals on the Tigers final two drives, making the final score 34-0.
